BOSS REBALANCE WEAPON TUNING PERFORMANCE FPS STABILITY JACKPOT CRATE UI

Five systems updated in one dispatch. Boss encounters across all seven threat categories have been recalibrated — early and mid phases now apply consistent pressure instead of coasting until their final phase activates. The Vortex Cannon has been restricted to prevent run-defining dominance from wave one. Cryo Blaster freeze logic has been corrected for performance at high enemy density. FPS stability on high-end hardware has been addressed. And a legendary field reward — the JACKPOT Crate — has been properly implemented with a new sprite, HUD indicator, and codex entry.

SEVEN THREATS. FULL RECALIBRATION.

Every boss in the roster has been reviewed for phase progression. The pattern across the board was identical: Phase 1 and 2 applied negligible pressure while Phase 3+ delivered all the challenge. This meant early boss phases were formality, not combat. That changes with this update — all seven bosses now escalate meaningfully from the first phase transition.

These changes affect difficulty, not HP. All boss health values remain unchanged and still match the published threat assessments on the Threats page. What changes is how aggressively they engage before reaching their final phase.
Boss Phase 1 / 2 Changes
TITAN Burst shots 5→7 p1. Charge interval 5.0→3.5s. Ground slam count 12→14 p1.
WARLORD Fire interval 2.0→1.4s p1. Shot count 3→4. Leap interval 6.0→4.5s. Ring count 8→10 p1.
INFERNO Blast interval 5.0→4.0s. Ranged shot count 12→16 p1. Wall interval shortened by 2s.
HARBINGER Airstrike count p1: 2→3. Airstrike interval p1: 5.0→4.0s. Cannon interval p2: 7.0→5.5s.
PHANTOM Phase 2+: 5-shot tracking burst fires 0.3s after every wall attack. Find the gap — then dodge the follow-up.
LEVIATHAN Ranged shots p1: 4→6, p2: 6→8. Shockwave intervals now escalate correctly per phase (bug fixed).
MONARCH Fire interval 2.0→1.6s p1. Shot count 3→5. Phase 5 leap radius 55→110px — now fully dodgeable.

The Leviathan shockwave fix deserves a note: Phase 1 and Phase 2 were both using the same base shockwave interval, meaning the Phase 1→2 transition had no measurable impact on shockwave pressure. This has been corrected — each of the four Leviathan phases now applies a distinct shockwave cadence.

The Monarch Phase 5 leap radius reduction from 55px to 110px is a nerf. At 55px the landing zone was too small to reliably avoid even with a dash. At 110px the leap is still lethal if ignored but consistently survivable with correct positioning.

VORTEX CANNON — THREE RESTRICTIONS.

The Vortex Cannon has been restricted. It will no longer appear before Wave 40, is capped at three pickups per run, and now carries a 100-round ammo pool instead of unlimited fire. The weapon remains in the game as a late-run option for operators who reach the deep waves — it is not removed, only regulated.

AMMO CAP — 100 ROUNDS
Unlimited ammo allowed the Vortex Cannon to function as a permanent replace-all weapon. At 100 rounds it remains powerful but forces the operator to manage supply alongside combat. Weapon evolutions add ammo per tier as normal.
WAVE 40 AVAILABILITY
The Vortex Cannon now only enters the drop pool from Wave 40 onward. Operators who survive the first 40 waves have earned access to the most disruptive weapon in the arsenal. Early waves are not the place for it.
THREE PER RUN MAXIMUM
A hard cap of three Vortex Cannon pickups per run prevents ammo stacking through repeated collection. Once you have picked up three, it stops appearing in drop pools and crate loot for the remainder of the run.

CRYO BLASTER — FREEZE LOGIC CORRECTED.

The Cryo Blaster's freeze damage was being applied at 60 ticks per second per frozen enemy. At high enemy density — particularly with the Absolute Zero Mythic evolution active — this generated 60 hit particles and 60 audio triggers per enemy per second, compounding into visible frame drops during extended cryo engagements.

Freeze damage is now accumulated and applied in 0.1s batches. Total damage output is identical — the tick cadence is reduced from 60×/s to 10×/s. No gameplay change. Particle and audio load at high freeze counts drops by 83%.

THREE IMPROVEMENTS FOR HIGH-END HARDWARE.

POWER SAVE BLOCKER — ELECTRON
macOS GPU throttling was reducing frame rate in the Electron build after several minutes of play on iMac and MacBook hardware with aggressive energy settings. The Electron main process now explicitly blocks display sleep from the moment the application launches. Frame rate holds consistent through long sessions.
PROJECTILE POOL — 350 → 300
The maximum simultaneous projectile count has been reduced from 350 to 300. At peak combat density the additional 50 projectiles were contributing to draw call overhead without meaningfully changing the encounter. The cap at 300 is still never reached during normal play.
BOSS SHADOW BLUR — PERFORMANCE MODE GATE
All boss aura, corona, and glow effects now respect the Performance Mode toggle. Previously, boss glow draw calls bypassed the setting and continued firing GPU blur passes regardless. With Performance Mode active, all boss visual effects now render without shadow blur — full fidelity is preserved when the toggle is off.

THE JACKPOT CRATE.

A rare reward has been added to the field. When a destructible obstacle crate is destroyed, there is a 3% chance it contains a JACKPOT Crate — a legendary gold military cache that activates 20 seconds of intensified loot drops across the arena.

JACKPOT CRATE — LOOT RAIN · 20 seconds
When collected, the arena enters a 20-second loot rain state. Every 1.5 seconds, a rich supply cache materialises near the operator's position — containing weapons, health and shield combos, ammo and utility pairings, or health regen and shield regen items. The HUD displays a live countdown in the status bar for the duration.

The JACKPOT Crate is a rare event, not a scheduled drop. It does not appear from enemy kills, boss rewards, or operator upgrades — only from destroyed field obstacles. Grab it immediately. The countdown starts on collection.

The crate now has its own gold military field case sprite, a distinct visual from standard supply crates. It is listed in the Codex under the Powerups tab.

GRENADE PIP OVERFLOW — CORRECTED.

The Grenade Launcher HUD display was rendering incorrectly at high grenade charge counts. With multiple magazine size upgrades and evolution bonuses stacked, the pip row could overflow the weapon box boundary — charges were being drawn outside the UI frame.

The pip system now dynamically calculates rows based on available width, rendering up to three rows of pips scaled to fit. At extreme charge counts a +N overflow indicator displays the remaining total. The display scales correctly from 1 to 99 charges.

Five systems in one dispatch. Boss encounters now apply consistent pressure across all phases — the first phase transition means something. The Vortex Cannon is restricted to the operators who earn it. Cryo performance holds at high density. FPS is stable in extended Electron sessions. And the field has a new legendary reward for operators who break the right crate at the right moment.

The demo is live at blitzlaststand.com/demo. Every change in this report is active in the current build. If the field reveals anomalies not covered here, report via Discord or Reddit.

The pressure is real now. Hold the line.
