GLOBAL RANKINGS
Seven systems. One dispatch. This update covers the full reclassification of all eight boss threats, a ground-up redesign of the Grunt as a bullet hell entity, a critical multi-Baron engagement fix, a weapon evolution system overhaul, and an engine performance pass targeting 120 FPS stability at wave 40 and beyond. Every number in this report is active in the current build.
HP RECLASSIFICATION
ALL EIGHT THREATS UPGRADED.
Eight bosses. Eight revised HP pools. The previous numbers were calibrated for a game that no longer exists. The following reflects current battlefield parameters.
HP increases range from 45% to 75% depending on tier. Late-game bosses — Monarch, Overlord — now require sustained fire across all phases. A single operator cannot brute-force the endgame any longer.
| THREAT |
WAVE |
PREVIOUS |
RECLASSIFIED |
| INFERNO | 30 | 2,200 | 3,200 |
| REVENANT | 40 | 2,800 | 4,500 + REVIVAL |
| DREADNOUGHT | 50 | 3,200 | 5,200 |
| HARBINGER | 60 | 3,800 | 6,500 |
| PHANTOM | 70 | 4,200 | 8,000 |
| LEVIATHAN | 80 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
| MONARCH | 90 | 7,800 | 12,000 |
| OVERLORD | 100 | 8,000 | 14,000 |
All eight boss escorts have also been standardised. Every full boss now arrives with a six-Grunt forward line in addition to its existing elite escort composition. The Titan no longer charges alone. Complete threat profiles are documented on the Threats page.
PHASE TRANSITIONS
TRANSITIONS CUT TO 3 SECONDS.
Boss phase transition windows have been significantly reduced. Previously, a transition gave operators 6.5–7.5 seconds to reposition and reload. That window no longer exists.
All boss phase transitions now complete in 3 seconds flat. The invincibility ring is visible — but it burns fast. Fights are now a single sustained engagement that accelerates, not a series of breaks interrupted by combat.
REVENANT — RECLASSIFIED
RESURRECTION DETECTED.
The Revenant has been fundamentally reclassified. What was previously a two-phase boss is now a three-act engagement. The first act ends with the Revenant's apparent death. That is not the end.
RESURRECTION PROTOCOL — FULL REVIVAL
On apparent death, the Revenant triggers a 2.5-second resurrection cinematic. Screen cuts to near-black. A red vignette closes in. A flash detonates at the midpoint. The audio plays a dedicated revive sequence. During this window the Revenant cannot be damaged — and it revives at full HP, re-entering at 1.7× base speed with a 1.5-second grace timer. This is not a bug. This is the second fight.
SOUL ANCHORS — DAMAGE BLOCK + RECLASSIFIED
Upon resurrection, the Revenant deploys two
Soul Anchors — crystalline obsidian vessels linked to its core. While any Anchor is active,
the Revenant takes zero damage. All hits register as misses. You cannot fight the Revenant until both Anchors are destroyed. Anchor HP raised to
1000 (was 600). Destroying both Anchors triggers a 3.5-second stun window — the only window in which the revived Revenant can be damaged. Full configuration is documented on the
Threats page.
PRESSURE SYSTEM
THE ARENA DOES NOT EMPTY.
Starting at wave 30, every boss encounter activates a continuous reinforcement protocol. While the boss is active, the arena will not clear. Enemy units spawn throughout the fight — up to six active extras at any time, refreshing every 18 seconds. From wave 61 onward, the interval extends to 22 seconds as spawn composition escalates. The reinforcement pool is Grunt-weighted by design: grunts appear at double frequency versus runners and shooters.
The pressure system deactivates only when the boss dies. Pressure enemies do not count toward wave-clear detection. The field is never empty until the threat is eliminated.
VISUAL SYSTEMS
PHASE 3: AMBIENT FIELD ACTIVATED.
Each boss now activates a signature ambient tint across the arena when it reaches phase 3. The effect serves as a visual signal that the boss has entered its final and most dangerous configuration. Inferno activates orange heat distortion. Dreadnought shifts to electric blue. Harbinger opens a violet frequency field. Phantom pulses cold cyan. Leviathan burns amber. Monarch and Overlord push deep crimson. Each tint clears only on boss death.
UNIT RECLASSIFICATION
GRUNT: MEAT CANNON PROTOCOL.
The Grunt has been redesigned from the ground up. It is no longer a generic melee unit. It is a bullet hell delivery mechanism — fast, expendable, individually trivial, lethal in numbers.
STAT RECLASSIFICATION
HP reduced from 55 → 35. Damage reduced from 15 → 10. Sprite scaled down 20% — physically smaller on screen. Attack cooldown increased slightly. A single Grunt is not a threat. A corridor of twelve Grunts is a wall of bodies that you need to push through.
SPAWN VOLUME — DOUBLED
Wave 1 now opens with 6 Grunts (was 4). By wave 7, you're facing 11. Wave 12 deploys 14. The dynamic formula governing high-wave composition has been raised from a 0.30 multiplier to 0.45 — a 50% increase in Grunt density from wave 18 onward, capped at 18 per wave. The front line is expendable. That is the point.
BOSS WAVE ESCORT
Every full boss encounter now opens with a six-Grunt forward escort in addition to the existing elite composition. The Grunts die fast — but they absorb fire, break formation, and buy the boss time. The Titan, Revenant, Harbinger, every threat from wave 10 to 100 now arrives behind a moving wall.
CRITICAL FIX
BARON: MULTI-UNIT ENGAGEMENT RESOLVED.
At higher difficulty tiers, mini-boss waves deploy multiple Barons simultaneously — two at wave 25, three at wave 45. A logic error caused the BARON DEFEATED mission screen to fire on elimination of the first Baron, while remaining units were still active.
Resolution: The kill confirmation screen now verifies whether any other active Baron units remain on the field before posting the mission-complete overlay. Intermediate kills fire a kill-confirmed notification only. The BARON DEFEATED screen posts exclusively when the last active Baron is neutralised. Multi-Baron waves now resolve correctly at all tier levels.
WEAPON SYSTEMS
WEAPON EVOLUTION: SYSTEM OVERHAUL.
The weapon evolution system was presenting evolutions for weapons the operator was not carrying — selecting randomly from the arsenal rather than reading the active weapon slot. Additionally, the evolution cadence flattened too quickly in the late game, leaving high-wave operators with under-evolved weapons.
PRIORITY REWRITE
Weapon evolutions now target the currently held weapon as first priority. When an evolution fires — whether from the upgrade select screen or the level-based trigger — the system checks the active weapon slot first. If that weapon has available evolutions, those are presented. If all evolutions for the current weapon are already purchased, the system falls back to other weapons in the arsenal. Operators will no longer receive evolution offers for weapons they are not using.
CADENCE RESTRUCTURED
Evolution frequency is now progressive rather than fixed. Below level 30: one evolution opportunity every 10 levels. Levels 30–60: every 7 levels. Level 60 and above: every 5 levels. The intent: operators should carry at least one evolution on every weapon in their arsenal by wave 50, two by wave 70, and a fully evolved loadout by wave 100. The previous fixed interval of every 12 levels made this mathematically impossible.
ENGINE SYSTEMS
PERFORMANCE: REBUILT FOR 120 FPS.
Wave 40 and above was producing measurable frame rate degradation — partly due to increased entity counts from the Grunt density changes, partly due to accumulated render and update inefficiencies. The following changes were applied to the engine.
VIEWPORT CULLING
Off-screen entities are no longer drawn. Previously the render pass iterated all active enemies regardless of camera position. Each enemy draw call involves multiple canvas save/restore operations and conditional effects. Enemies outside the visible area — typically 20–30% at high wave counts — are now skipped entirely. Zero visual change. Significant render budget reduction.
LOOP CONSOLIDATION
Three separate per-frame O(n) enemy passes — Maritime Tactics reveal timer, Cryo Blaster slow tick, and poison DPS tick — have been merged into a single combined pass. The spawner's two-pass architecture (enemy count + summon processing) has been reduced to one. Net result: wave 40 with 40+ active entities now requires roughly half the per-frame array scans compared to the previous build.
SPATIAL GRID — NO ALLOCATION
The projectile-to-enemy spatial grid was allocating a new array per occupied cell every frame. With 40 active enemies this generated constant garbage-collection pressure. Cell arrays are now pre-allocated and cleared by resetting length — zero heap allocation per frame during collision processing.
SHADOW DRAW GUARDS
Canvas shadowBlur is one of the most expensive per-call operations in a 2D renderer. Heal glow, phase transition ring, and poison overlay effects were running unguarded shadow passes on every active entity. All three are now behind the existing performance mode gate. Combined with the guards already applied to sprite glow and identification rings, the default performance mode configuration now draws zero unguarded shadow calls for regular enemies.
The target is a stable 120 FPS on mid-range hardware through wave 100. Minor drops during heavy boss-wave transitions are expected and acceptable. Sloppy sustained degradation is not.
PATCH ADDENDUM — 14 AUG 2026
ADDITIONAL FIELD CORRECTIONS.
Seven additional corrections and balance changes applied in the same build cycle.
DREADNOUGHT — IDENTIFIER CORRECTED
The boss kill screen was displaying WARDEN and ARCHON on elimination of the Dreadnought and Monarch respectively — the internal engine identifiers rather than the operational designation. Fixed. All three kill-confirmation paths now correctly resolve to DREADNOUGHT and MONARCH.
DREADNOUGHT — TURRET SATURATION PROTOCOL
The Dreadnought now deploys a full ring of 8 siege turrets immediately at fight start — arena saturation is instant, not gradual. After turrets are destroyed, they respawn in groups of 4 at significantly reduced intervals (2–3 seconds per cycle vs. 7–11 previously). The Dreadnought has always been defined by its turret field. Now it feels like it.
REVENANT — MINIGUN MUZZLE CORRECTED
When the Revenant sprite mirrored on a leftward facing, projectiles were firing from the incorrect arm — the arm without the gun. The muzzle offset calculation did not account for the sprite's natural left-facing orientation. Fixed. The minigun now correctly fires from the right arm in all facing configurations.
LIGHTNING STRIKE — ENEMY DAMAGE ENABLED
Voltiac lightning bolts previously applied damage only to operators caught in the strike zone. The same bolt now applies 40 HP damage to any enemy within the strike column — including the Voltiac unit itself. Player damage also raised from 20 to 40 HP for symmetry. Lightning is now a shared threat and a tactical tool in equal measure.
FIRE PATCH DPS — TUNED DOWN
Ground fire and lava patches from Pyro and Inferno were dealing damage at a rate that punished brief contact too aggressively, especially in tight arenas. Pyro fire DPS reduced from 12 → 8. Inferno lava DPS reduced from 16 → 12. Sustained exposure remains lethal. Quick traversal is survivable.
PATCH ADDENDUM — 16 AUG 2026
SQUAD OPERATIONS: FULL REBUILD.
The companion system has been audited and rebuilt from scratch. Every operator upgrade that involves allied units — ghost clones, squad soldiers, drones, animals — was confirmed non-functional or only partially wired at the point of this audit. Six systems repaired. Three dead operator upgrades activated. Respawn logic added across all companion types.
GHOST OPERATIVE — COMMANDO CLOAK NOW DEPLOYS
The Commando's primary milestone — deploying ghost clone operatives on cloak activation — was registering the event but not spawning any units due to a flawed alive-count check. Clones were typed as generic soldiers, causing count collisions with squad companions. Fixed: ghost clones now use a dedicated ghost type, spawn correctly on every cloak activation, and cap correctly at 2 (or 3 with Ghost Army). With the C-DEEP COVER operator upgrade, the cap extends to +2 additional clones per activation — this upgrade was previously setting a flag that nothing read. Now functional.
SQUAD COMPANIONS — RESPAWN SYSTEM ACTIVATED
Every companion type was being permanently removed on death. The respawnDelay field existed in the data but the cleanup loop treated it as a removal timer, not a revival timer. Fixed: all respawnable companion types — Shadow Squad snipers, SEAL tactical drones, infantry squads, elite strike teams, animal companions — now revive near the operator after their delay (8–15 seconds depending on unit type). Ghost clones and Jungle Ambush guerrillas remain non-respawnable by design — they are replaced by the next activation or timer cycle.
JUNGLE AMBUSH — PERIODIC REINFORCEMENT REBUILT
Jungle Ambush described periodic guerrilla spawns but was implemented as a one-time squad drop — identical to Infantry Squad. Rebuilt: Jungle Ambush now operates on a 15-second reinforcement timer. Every 15 seconds the system checks active guerrilla count and tops up to the upgrade level cap. The first wave fires immediately on upgrade acquisition. Subsequent waves materialise with a particle burst and audio confirmation.
THREE DEAD OPERATOR UPGRADES NOW FUNCTIONAL
Three operator-tier upgrades from the SEAL and Commando branches were setting flags that no system read.
S-SEAL COHESION: While any companion is alive, operator and all companions deal +15% damage. Now evaluated every frame — activates the moment the first companion spawns, deactivates the moment the last one dies.
C-OPERATIVE NETWORK: Cloaked companions are immune to all incoming damage — projectiles pass through, melee does not connect. Now checked on every projectile collision and enemy melee attempt.
C-DEEP COVER: See Ghost Operative section above — cap extended from 2 to 4 ghost clones per activation.
PATCH ADDENDUM — 16 AUG 2026
GLOBAL RANKINGS: CORRECTED.
The Global Rankings system contained three logic errors that produced incorrect rank displays and stale data.
RANK DISPLAY CORRECTED
The leaderboard was displaying rank based on the local score list position — always #1 on a fresh device regardless of global standing. Fixed: rank now resolves against the merged global+local list. A single label — YOUR GLOBAL RANK: #X — reflects the server-confirmed position. Two conflicting rank indicators have been consolidated into one.
ROW HIGHLIGHT FIXED
The gold highlight stripe was anchoring to the wrong row — always row #1 — rather than following the operator's actual position in the merged list. Fixed. The highlight now tracks the submitted entry correctly across all pages of the global table.
GLOBAL DATA NOW REFRESHES AFTER EACH RUN
After submitting a score the global fetch was blocked by a permanent load flag, meaning subsequent leaderboard views showed cached data from the previous session. Fixed. Global scores are refetched after every score submission — the table reflects live standings.
COMMAND ASSESSMENT
Fifteen systems updated across two build cycles. Boss HP reclassification, phase timing, and Revenant Soul Anchor damage blocking make the endgame structurally harder. The Grunt redesign makes early and mid game structurally louder. The Baron fix resolves a false victory condition. The weapon evolution overhaul means loadout progression works as designed. The companion system rebuild means squad-based operators now fight as they were designed to — ghost clones deploy, soldiers respawn, operator upgrades apply. The global rankings now reflect actual standings. The engine changes mean all of it runs at the frame rate it should.
The demo is live at blitzlaststand.com/demo. Wave 1 feels different now. Wave 40 is no longer forgiving. Wave 100 has not yet been reached under these parameters. If field conditions reveal anomalies not covered in this report, dispatch a report in the Discord.
Your previous strategies are no longer sufficient. Reassess.
