The dash is your most important survival tool. During the dash, your operator is briefly invulnerable — bullets pass through you, claws miss, explosions don't connect. That window is short. Use it to break out of encirclements, dodge boss attacks, punch through enemy lines, and reposition before you're overrun.

Passive upgrades and operator milestones can extend your dash charges, reduce cooldown, add speed boosts after dashing, or leave smoke trails that slow enemies. By mid-run, the dash is often the difference between a 40-wave death and a wave 80 run. Don't save it — use it.
E — each operator has a unique special with its own cooldown.

Your special is a high-impact ability that defines your operator's role on the battlefield. Examples:

Commando — Ghost Cloak: 8s of invisibility. Enemies lose your position. Use it to escape a collapse or reposition without being tracked.
Marine — Adrenaline Rush: 6s of ×1.5 speed and ×2 fire rate. Use it during boss fights or when a wave peaks.
Navy SEAL — Breach: instant teleport forward (3× dash range, ignores obstacles). Low cooldown — use aggressively as a movement tool.
Soldier — Mortar Strike: 3 mortar shells on cursor position. Long range area denial, ideal for thinning clusters before they reach you.
Jungle Guerrilla — Deploy Mine: proximity mine, up to 4 active. Plant them on choke points and funnel enemies into them.
Sergeant — IED Plant: plant a remote bomb anywhere. Detonate at will — massive radius, maximum damage in a single trigger.

Specials are not panic buttons. The operators who survive longest use their special at full effectiveness, not when it's already too late.
There are two upgrade layers and both matter.

Wave upgrades: After each wave you level up and choose from a set of random upgrades. These are general weapons, damage buffs, defensive passives, and support systems that any operator can pick. They stack and compound — a fire rate upgrade on top of a damage upgrade on top of a pierce upgrade creates something different than any of them alone. Think about where your build is going, not just what looks best in isolation.

Operator milestones: Each of the six operators has 8 signature upgrades that unlock at fixed wave thresholds (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80). These are class-defining abilities — a Commando unlocks AI sniper teammates, a Marine can trigger a nuclear blast. They transform your playstyle mid-run. Pay attention to what's coming.

Casings (meta-progression): You earn casings every run, even when you die. Spend them in the Operator Menu (Esc from the main menu) on permanent passive bonuses that carry across all future runs. They don't expire. Losing a run still counts.
The briefing says it simply: keep moving, dash through threats, and spend your special when it matters.

In practice: operators who survive past wave 30 are constantly repositioning. They don't stand still and fire. They circle clusters, dash through incoming fire, create distance from juggernauts, and pull enemies into chokepoints before unloading. Stationary operators die early.

Weapon cycling matters more than most new recruits expect. You have multiple weapons — use the right one for the range and enemy type. Cycle frequently. Running dry mid-wave is a positioning mistake, not a reload problem.

By wave 40 the battlefield has specialists: snipers that shoot through walls, berserkers that rush in straight lines, juggernauts that absorb everything. Learn what each enemy type does and counter it. The intel is on the Threats page.
Yes — every boss except Overlord has a specific weapon weakness.

When you hit a boss with its weakness weapon, you deal significantly increased damage and a colored indicator flashes next to the boss HP bar — that's your confirmation that your loadout is working. The Threats page lists the weakness for every boss.

The game also gives you a head start: at the start of every boss wave, the weakness weapon spawns as a guaranteed pickup near the center of the arena. Pick it up before engaging. Enemies drop ammo throughout the fight — cycle weapons when one runs dry and don't wait until you're empty.

General weapon bonuses also apply against bosses. High-output weapons — machine gun, minigun, flamethrower, shotgun — deal bonus damage on all bosses, even if they aren't the specific weakness weapon. Early game weapons like those are not outclassed at wave 80; they're often the right answer.

Quick reference:
Wave 10 Titan → Rocket Launcher  |  Wave 20 Warlord → Grenade Launcher  |  Wave 30 Inferno → Ice Beam
Wave 40 Revenant → Machine Gun  |  Wave 50 Dreadnought → Sniper  |  Wave 60 Harbinger → Shotgun
Wave 70 Phantom → Flamethrower  |  Wave 80 Leviathan → Laser  |  Wave 90 Monarch → Vortex Gun
GAMEPLAY
Blitz: Last Stand is a dark, cinematic top-down wave survival shooter with rogue-lite upgrade progression. You play as one of six elite military operators, fighting off relentless waves of increasingly brutal enemies. Between waves, you choose upgrades that compound and transform your playstyle. It draws from the Survivors-like genre — think Vampire Survivors — but with a serious military aesthetic, precise mouse-and-keyboard controls, and far more distinct enemy behaviors.
Anywhere from 5 minutes to over 2 hours — depending on your skill, your operator choice, and how far you get. Early waves are manageable. By wave 20 the pressure is constant. By wave 50 you either have a build that can handle anything, or you don't. Wave 100 is the endgame milestone. Most players won't see it on their first run. Or their tenth.
Currently single-player only. Blitz: Last Stand is designed as a solo operator experience — one person, the whole battlefield. Multiplayer has been considered for a future update, but the launch version is a focused single-player game.
100 waves, with major escalation points and boss encounters at every 10th wave. The BARON mini-boss appears early, followed by 10 full boss encounters — TITAN (wave 10), WARLORD (20), INFERNO (30), REVENANT (40), DREADNOUGHT (50), HARBINGER (60), PHANTOM (70), LEVIATHAN (80), MONARCH (90), and finally OVERLORD at wave 100 — the five-phase final boss whose last phase is called APOCALYPSE. Every 10-wave block introduces new enemy types, so no two wave ranges feel the same.
The run is over. You start from wave 1. Your high score, medals earned, and operator unlock progress are permanently saved — but your build and any wave progress are gone. No checkpoints, no mid-run saves. Death is meaningful here. The tension of a long run is real because losing it hurts.
Each operator unlocks by reaching a specific wave milestone for the first time:

Commando — Available from the start
Marine — Reach Wave 10
Navy SEAL — Reach Wave 20
Soldier — Reach Wave 25
Jungle Guerrilla — Reach Wave 30
Sergeant — Reach Wave 50

Getting better unlocks more options — the game rewards persistence, not just skill.
Between each wave, you level up and choose from a selection of upgrades. Each operator has 8 milestone upgrades that unlock at specific wave thresholds (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80). These upgrades change your abilities, transform your weapons, and can completely shift your strategy mid-run. The general upgrade pool also offers weapons, buffs, and passive effects. No two runs result in the same build.

It's built by M Designs Groningen (Marco Hol), a creative studio based in the Netherlands. No team, no publisher, no compromise.
The launch version is a complete, standalone experience — 100 waves, 6 operators, 24+ enemy types, 10 boss encounters. Post-launch plans include additional operators, new enemy types, new maps, and potentially multiplayer. No promises beyond what's already in the game — but the foundation is built to expand.
