PATCH NOTES BOSS BALANCE WEAPON EVOLUTIONS MYTHIC UPGRADES

After weeks of playtesting, countless runs and more than a few deaths at the hands of my own bosses, I pushed a significant update to Blitz: Last Stand ahead of launch. This update focuses heavily on balance, boss encounters, enemy behavior, weapon evolutions and overall gameplay feel. The goal was simple: make the game more challenging without making it feel unfair.

LESS CHEAP. MORE BRUTAL.

The early boss fights were punishing in the wrong way. During Wave 20, the WARLORD could land hits before players had even had the chance to properly understand the shield mechanic. I reworked the attack timing of the first three bosses so their patterns are easier to read before they become relentless. You will still die — but hopefully because you made a mistake, not because something hit you out of nowhere.

INFERNO has received a proper fire wall attack. Horizontal and vertical lines of flames now travel across the entire arena, leaving a small gap for players to dodge through. It looks terrifying and, more importantly, finally feels like an attack worthy of a boss.

EVOLVED, NOT JUST UPGRADED.

The Weapon Evolution system received a complete overhaul. There are now eleven upgrade paths, each designed to transform a weapon into something genuinely different — not just increase its numbers.

CRYO BLASTER
Freeze duration increased. Damage improved. Fully frozen enemies now show a new visual effect.
VORTEX CANNON
Reworked completely. Now pulls enemies in, holds them in place and detonates. The implosion radius is large enough to actually clear groups instead of barely scratching them.
PISTOL AKIMBO — NEW LEGENDARY EVOLUTION
Two barrels. Tight spread. 40% damage bonus. It made its way into the game as a legendary evolution. It absolutely slaps.

LESS WALL. MORE THREAT.

Enemies previously behaved more like a moving wall than an actual threat — clumping around spawn points, then running directly at the player in predictable lines. That has changed.

FLOCK SCANNING
Proper flock scanning added to enemy movement. Swarms now move together as a group while maintaining a slight spread — the battlefield feels busier and more dynamic without becoming frustrating.
MEDIC AI
Medics now prioritize the nearest wounded ally instead of automatically targeting the nearest player.
COMMANDER
Fixed a bug where Commanders would accidentally trigger their airstrike cooldowns twice.

NEW AUDIO.

The combat rotation now includes two new music tracks, along with boss-specific intro music for major wave bosses. Dynamic music transitions between normal gameplay, combat and boss encounters now happen more naturally instead of cutting abruptly. There is also a new low HP alarm that activates at 25% health — designed to be just alarming enough to make you panic, without becoming annoying.

SECOND CHANCE PROTOCOL.

Every one of the six operators now has access to a final Mythic tier upgrade — the Second Chance Protocol. A one-time death defiance system that activates the moment you would otherwise die. Cost: 600 casings. Requires every other operator upgrade to be fully maxed first. Once activated, it can only trigger once per run.

Commando
SHADOW PROTOCOL
The lethal hit is intercepted. You become invisible for 20 seconds. Damage output tripled. Movement speed +50%. Your enemies will not know you survived until you are already behind them.
Marine
IRON WILL
The lethal hit is intercepted. Complete damage immunity for 10 seconds. Adrenaline activates automatically. You do not need a medic. You need a moment.
Navy SEAL
DEAD RECKONING
A lethal hit is intercepted. 40% HP restored instantly. All cooldowns cleared. Five dash charges loaded. 10 seconds of damage immunity. A complete tactical reset.
Soldier
FINAL BARRAGE
A lethal hit is intercepted. Twelve mortar shells rain down on every active enemy on the battlefield. 10 seconds of immunity while the arena becomes an artillery graveyard.
Jungle Guerrilla
GHOST AMBUSH
A lethal hit is intercepted. Every mine placed detonates simultaneously. 15 second cloak. 8 HP/s regeneration for the duration. The entire battlefield is your trap.
Sergeant
DEAD MAN'S SWITCH
A lethal hit is intercepted. Every IED detonates immediately. 5 seconds of immunity. You rigged this before the fight even started. One use. One chance.

SIZE & HP ADJUSTMENTS.

Six enemy types were increased in size following playtesting feedback that they were becoming difficult to track and avoid at higher waves.

Enemy Size Increase
Harvester+23%
Decimator+23%
Voltaic+22%
Stalker+19%
Amplifier+21%
Husk+14%
HARBINGER — Wave 60: HP increased from 3,800 to 5,800. Wave 60 is designed to be one of the harder encounters in the game. It should feel like one.

WHAT WAS BROKEN. NOW FIXED.

BOSS ENTRY PHASE — WAVE 50+
Bosses from wave 50 onward now attack immediately on entry. The 2.5 second opening phase and invulnerability window remain — but they fire from the moment they appear. If you are not already repositioned, that is on you.
SUPPORT HELICOPTER
Was appearing too frequently and losing its impact. Interval increased from every 4–6 waves to every 8–13 waves. Minimum threshold raised to wave 10. The helicopter should now feel like a genuine turning point when it arrives.
IED DETONATION — SERGEANT
Pressing the ability a second time to detonate a placed IED was incorrectly blocked by the 40 second cooldown. Fixed. Detonation now bypasses the cooldown as intended. Plant it. Then detonate it.
DREADNOUGHT — WAVE 50
The hardened armor could remain active when HP reached extremely low values, making it impossible to finish the fight. At 5% HP, the armor now permanently deactivates.
BARON — WAVE 60
Killing the Baron before defeating the HARBINGER was incorrectly triggering the full boss kill screen. The Baron is a secondary target and is now handled correctly.

INTERFACE CLEANUP.

WEAPON SLOT NUMBERS
Slot numbers no longer overlap the EVO badge displayed on evolved weapon slots.
GRENADE LAUNCHER AMMO PIPS
Pips now scale dynamically and adapt to higher charge counts instead of overflowing the weapon box. Above 9 pips, the display automatically switches to a two-row layout.

This patch is a significant step toward getting Blitz: Last Stand launch-ready. Most of these changes came directly from playtesting — seeing where the game was challenging in the right way and where it was simply frustrating.

The demo is live now at blitzlaststand.com/demo — no download, no account required. If you run into anything unexpected while playing, drop a message in the Discord. I read everything and player feedback plays a big part in shaping the game.

Give it a try. Let me know how far you get.

Good luck out there. — Blitz Command
