SETTINGS EXPANSION BOSS VISUALS SOUL ANCHORS PHANTOM AUDIO DISPLAY CONTROLS PAUSE MENU MYTHIC EVOLUTIONS WEAPON SYSTEM BUG FIXES

Four systems. One dispatch. This update covers the full settings expansion — six new operator display and performance toggles accessible both from the main menu and mid-mission via the pause screen — a corrected boss rendering layer that puts sprites back on top of their aura effects, a significant Soul Anchor field upgrade, and a Phantom audio replacement that fixes the spike signal entirely. Updated 17 Aug: The Mythic Weapon Evolutions system is now fully live. All 11 weapons have a complete Rare → Epic → Mythic chain. Every change in this report is active in the current build.

SIX NEW OPERATOR CONTROLS.

The settings panel has been expanded with six discrete display and performance toggles. All six are accessible from the main menu Settings screen and from the in-mission pause menu — so operators can adjust the field overlay without abandoning the run.

Settings are persisted between sessions. Your configuration is saved the moment you press SAVE. The RESET DISPLAY option restores brightness and contrast to default values without clearing your toggle state. Changes take effect immediately — no restart required.
FPS COUNTER
Displays live frame rate in the top-left corner during play. Default: off.
DAMAGE NUMBERS
Floating damage figures above every hit. Default: on. Disabling reduces visual noise in dense firefights.
ENEMY HEALTH BARS
HP bars above every unit. Disabling clears the arena display — the damage numbers remain. Default: on.
HIT MARKERS
Brief crosshair flash on confirmed hits. Default: on. Toggle off for a cleaner reticle during sustained fire.
SCREEN FLASH
Full-screen damage and impact flashes. Default: on. Disable if flashes are disorienting or impair visibility.
PERFORMANCE MODE
Disables non-essential shadow and glow effects across all enemies. Recommended for mid-range hardware from wave 40 onward.

Brightness and contrast sliders remain in both menu contexts as before. The SAVE button commits all settings. The RESET DISPLAY button restores only the brightness and contrast values — the six toggles above are not affected by a display reset.

BOSS SPRITES: LAYER ORDER CORRECTED.

All boss threat aura effects — phase rings, ambient fills, flame pools, energy fields — were rendering on top of the boss sprite. The effect was correct in isolation; the composite was wrong. A boss framed in a field of fire should be visible inside that field, not buried beneath it.

All aura fills now render before the sprite pass. The boss sprite always draws on top. Phase transition rings and ambient field tints are visible around the threat, not covering it. The distinction is most apparent on Inferno — where the flame tongue layer and white core previously obscured the sprite entirely at close range — and on the Revenant's Soul Anchors during their smoke state.

The fix applies universally across all eight boss types and all associated visual effect layers. No visual effect that predates this build has been removed — the draw order correction is the only change.

SOUL ANCHORS: FIELD PRESENCE UPGRADED.

Soul Anchors — the obsidian vessels the Revenant deploys on resurrection — have been reclassified. Their size has been increased and their visual design rebuilt from the ground up.

SIZE — RECLASSIFIED 1.5×
Soul Anchor base radius increased from 16 → 24. All associated effects — smoke gradient radius, flame tongue length, sprite orbit radius — scale proportionally from this base. The Anchors are now meaningfully present in the arena. They were previously easy to lose against the Revenant's own visual signature. At 1.5× they demand attention.
VISUAL DESIGN — REBUILT
The previous geometric design has been replaced. Soul Anchors now render as a warm purple smoke core with seven animated flame tongues orbiting the vessel. The smoke gradient cycles through deep violet and near-black. The flame tongues flicker at independent phases, producing a non-uniform burn signature that reads as organic rather than mechanical. The result is a more recognisable threat presence — you will see the Anchors before you orient toward them.

The Revenant Soul Anchor damage block and HP values from Devlog #3 remain unchanged. While any Anchor is active, the Revenant takes zero damage. Anchor HP: 1,000. Destroying both triggers the 3.5-second stun window. Only the size and visual presentation have changed in this update.

SPIKE SIGNAL: REPLACED.

The Phantom's spike projectile audio was firing on an interval that made it the dominant sound presence during the entire Phantom encounter. The previous signal triggered every 1.2–2.0 seconds during Phantom's cloaked phase — a rate that made it indistinct from ambient noise and produced listener fatigue across the full fight duration.

AUDIO FILE — REPLACED
The spike projectile audio has been replaced with a new signal. The previous file produced a sound that was neither recognisable as a distinct threat event nor consistent with the Phantom's tactical profile. The new file is a clean, directional impact signature — short, defined, recoverable. You will know when a spike is incoming.
VOLUME — REBALANCED
Spike audio volume trim reduced from 0.85 → 0.55 relative to the SFX master channel. The spike signal now sits below the weapon fire and hit confirmation layers in the mix. It is audible — but it no longer drowns out the active fight.

The Phantom's other audio signals — cloak activation, phase transition, proximity pulse — remain unchanged. Only the spike projectile sound has been replaced and rebalanced.

THE MYTHIC PROTOCOL.

All 11 weapons now have a complete Rare → Epic → Mythic evolution chain. The Mythic tier is a new class of upgrade — a field modification that fundamentally changes how the weapon operates. Maximum two Mythic evolutions per run. You must own at least one Rare and one Epic before the first Mythic becomes available.

Mythic evolutions are not numerical upgrades. They do not add percentage points to existing stats. They add a new operating mode: a rotating 360° laser beam, a 5-bullet kill-triggered burst, a proximity shockwave on every third shotgun pull. The weapon behaves differently at the Mythic tier — not just harder.
Weapon Mythic Name Field Effect
PistolFan the HammerEvery kill triggers a 5-bullet burst in a 90° forward cone. +30% damage.
ShotgunShockwave RoundEvery 3rd shot emits a 200-radius shockwave pulse. +20% damage.
Machine GunBullet RainEvery bullet spawns two side lanes at ±35°. Side lanes deal 50% damage.
Rocket LauncherHellfire SeekerRockets home in on the nearest active threat. +30% damage.
FlamethrowerNapalm RingEvery 6s of sustained fire: 8 large napalm blobs in a full 360° ring.
SniperRailgun ProtocolBullets pierce all enemies and pass through walls. +50% damage. Full-auto fire.
Grenade LauncherCluster ProtocolEach grenade explosion releases 5 sub-grenades (50% radius, 40% damage).
MinigunTyphoon ModeAfter 3s of sustained spin: 5s of 360° rotating spray, +50% damage. 15s cooldown.
LaserOmni Pulse1s warmup → 6s of fast 360° beam, 2.5× damage, no heat → 13s cooldown. +30% damage.
Cryo BlasterAbsolute ZeroFrozen enemy deaths shatter — shards deal 80% of max HP to all units within 120px.
Vortex CannonEvent HorizonVortex kills launch 8 radial projectiles from the kill point. +30% vortex DPS.

The HUD weapon slot now shows a rarity-colored border on the evolution badge — blue for Rare, gold for Epic, red for Mythic. You always know which weapons carry which tier without opening a menu.

FIVE FIELD CORRECTIONS.

CLUSTER PROTOCOL — CASCADE HALT
Sub-grenades were inheriting Cluster Protocol and recursively spawning their own sub-grenades on detonation. A single grenade could fill the projectile pool in one encounter. The sub-grenade flag is now correctly propagated through the explosion chain — sub-grenade explosions do not spawn further sub-grenades.
FAN THE HAMMER — RECURSION BLOCKED
Fan the Hammer bullets were flagged as pistol kills, which triggered Fan the Hammer again on impact. In dense enemy groups this cascaded across the full encounter. Burst bullets are now marked as originating from the Hammer trigger and skip the kill hook entirely.
ABSOLUTE ZERO — DOT KILL COVERAGE
Absolute Zero did not trigger when a frozen enemy died from the continuous freeze damage tick — only from direct projectile impact. Enemies that expired from DoT while fully frozen now correctly trigger the shard burst.
OMNI PULSE — WEAPON SWITCH STATE
Switching away from the Laser during an active Omni Pulse left the 360° beam rendering indefinitely. The pulse state machine now resets immediately on weapon switch — the beam clears the moment the Laser is holstered.
TYPHOON & OMNI PULSE — ACTIVATION AUDIO
Both Mythic activations were referencing an audio file that did not exist in the build — both fired silently. Corrected.

Six systems updated across two dispatches. The settings expansion, boss visual correction, Soul Anchor reclassification, and Phantom audio fix shipped 14 Aug. The Mythic Weapon Evolutions system and five field corrections shipped 17 Aug. All 11 weapons now carry a full upgrade chain from Rare to Mythic — two Mythic slots per run, each one a distinct operating mode.

The demo is live at blitzlaststand.com/demo. Settings persist between sessions — configure once, deploy indefinitely. If the field reveals anomalies not covered in this report, send a dispatch via Discord or Reddit.

Calibrate your field. Then fight.
